Main Attractions...

Lincoln Cathedral
Standing high over the city, Lincoln Cathedral can be seen from miles around, and is widely considered to be the finest example of English Gothic architecture. During the middle ages it was the tallest building in the world, although it lost this title when its massive spire was destroyed.

Lincoln Castle
Lincoln Castle was constructed by William the Conqueror and remains one of the best preserved Norman castles in England. During the 18th and 19th centuries it served as the town prison and the strange coffin shaped pews in the chapel were designed to ensure complete isolation for the prisoners even during worship. The Castle is also home to one of the four surviving originals of Magna Carta.

The Museum of Lincolnshire Life
Based in an old military barracks, the Museum of Lincolnshire Life offers a captivating introduction to life in Lincolnshire past and present. There is also a major exhibition dedicated to the history of the Royal North Lincoln Militia.

The Usher Art Gallery
The Usher Art Gallery, set in the beautiful Temple Gardens, houses a huge collection of clocks, watches, porcelain, silver and coins, originally owned by James Ward Usher, a notable Lincoln businessman in Victorian times. There are also other fine examples of decorative art, from Neo-Classical sculpture to contemporary crafts.
